Alistair McMillan is Baseball Central’s Allstar
of Month for April.
The 12-year-old New Los Angeles Charter School
student is versatile around the diamond, able to play
outfield, pitcher, catcher and 1st baseman when called upon.
"I'm more comfortable in the outfield but it's more fun on the pitching mound," he says, adding he currently plays recreational ball in Wilshire and Beverly Hills as well as Travel Ball for the Cavemen. He has played a season with the Warriors.
“Both rec teams I played on last year went to the championships and I have high hopes for this year,” says McMillan, who is also an ambassador at his school -- located just blocks from Baseball Central -- where he hopes to eventually set up a school baseball team.
"I'm talking with people on the school's board of directors for next year."
A regular at Baseball Central since February 2009, McMillan says he likes the facility's quality of coaching. As to his goals for the sport he's not giving anything away, but says "who wouldn't want to play pro baseball?"
In addition to his love of baseball, McMillan has made several forays into the martial arts, earning a 2nd Dan (degree) Black Belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido (weapons). He is currently working on his 3rd Dan at Sky Martial Arts.
When not studying he likes to hang out with his friends, play video games and watch movies.
